As the founder of Athens Area Bilingual Therapy, I have worked as a speech-language pathologist for over 10 years.  I earned my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston and Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Georgia.

My interest in the field of speech-language pathology was born from an observation experience in high-school when my eyes were opened to the impact of communication, specifically in a child with autism.  This wonder in the power of language and connection is the driving force behind the passion and pride I carry daily in my profession.  Serving the underserved, Spanish-speaking, bilingual population has a special place in my heart simply because of my roots.

 

My clinical experience includes a variety of populations and disorders.  I have worked in outpatient pediatric and adult rehabilitation with adults who have experienced cerebrovascular accidents and traumatic brain injuries.  I have also worked in the acute care setting with a number of additional types of patients, including Parkinson’s, Alzheimers disease, and patients with swallowing disorders as a result of neurological trauma. Much of my recent experience has been working in the daycare and private school setting with children who have autism, down’s syndrome, and chromosomal disorders.  I am a certified member of the American Speech-Language Association and licensed in the state of Georgia.
